Most urinary tract infections (UTI) are caused by bacteria or germs that enter in to the urinary tract from your own bowel.

They do not cause any harm to your bowel but causes infection when they enter into other parts of the body. Some bacteria will remain around your anus after passing the stool.

Sometimes these germs travel into the tube which passes urine from urethra. These bacteria grow or increase in its number quickly by multiplying and that cause infection.

UTI has various names based on what part of your body is infected. They are like bladder infection [Male Interstitial Cystitis], kidney infection, urethritis, etc.

Signs and symptoms of UTI vary depending on age, sex, and part of urinary tract that is infected. Some of the unique symptoms may develop depending on infecting agent.

Bladder Infection Symptoms:

Usually you may experience pain while passing urine, bloody urine, and pain in lower tummy, frequent urge to pass urine but in fewer amounts, urine may become cloudy or foul smelling and may have high temperature.

Kidney Infection Symptoms:

It can cause pain in the side part of abdomen over kidney, feeling sick, high fever, frequent vomiting’s, night sweats, chills and shaking, reddened skin etc.

Most of the elderly men can experience confusion or mental changes even without noticing any urinary symptoms.

Common Symptoms of UTI:

Burning feeling during urination, feeling the need to urinate frequently, pressure in the rectum or pubic bone (women), passing little amounts of urine though there is urgency to urinate is strong, leaking urine, groin pain and fatigue, serious abdominal pain etc.
