Chlamydia is basically an STD or sexually transmitted disease which is caused by a very small bacterium called Chlamydia trachomatis.

Chlamydia is also called the silent infection due to the fact that it does not cause any observable symptoms.

Around 25% to 50% cases of Chlamydia in men go unnoticed mainly due to the fact that the symptoms of this condition cannot be observed or they are not found actually. This is the reason why this condition is highly prevalent among men throughout the world.

Signs of chlamydia in Men are generally not noticeable and if they do appear, it is between one or three weeks post having unprotected intercourse with an infected individual.

  • Itching or burning sensation in the urethra. The urethra is the tube which carries urine out of the human body.
  • Cloudy, watery or white discharge from the head of the penis.
  • Pain felt in testicles

Symptoms That Need Immediate Treatment

There are some symptoms of Chlamydia in men that require immediate treatment and they are as follows:

  • Rectal pain, bleeding and discharge
  • Throat infection
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Swelling under the anus

In both men as well as women, Chlamydia might result in an itchy anus which can even bleed. Diarrhea and discharge are also some common symptoms of Chlamydia in men.

In case Chlamydia affects the eyes in men, it might result in discharge, itching and redness of the eyes. The symptoms of this condition might be mild and they generally appear in the morning. This is the reason why people actually do not realize that they are suffering from Chlamydia.
