MERS Coronavirus is Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus- a virus which causes MERS. This virus was reported for the very first time in Saudi Arabia in the year 2012.

It is quite different from the other coronaviruses and it comes from an animal source. It has also been reported in the other countries like Africa, Asia, Middle East, United States and Europe.

According to researchers, people with certain pre-existing medical problems might have increased chances of being infected by the MERS Coronavirus.

These pre-existing medical conditions include chronic lung, kidney and heart diseases, cancer and diabetes. Individuals with weak immune systems might also be at high risk of contracting the MERS Coronavirus.

There are patients who can also have multiple organ failure because of the MERS Coronavirus and this especially involves septic shock or the kidneys. Severe diseases are caused due to the virus in people with weak immune systems and even the older people.

These are some of the symptoms that have been successfully associated with MERS Coronavirus infection till date. Studies are being carried out in this field for coming up with some other symptoms of this virus infection.
