Homemade Effective Drinks for Sore Throat

A sore throat is a common ailment often attributed to illnesses like a cold, infection and strep throat. You feel this pain whenever you try to eat and swallow something.

Sore throats are of various kinds based on the cause they originate from. The condition often passes in three to seven days.

Sore throat may be caused by a number of things such as bacteria, allergies, virus, muscle strain, sinus drainage, continuous breathing through the mouth, and certain medications.

Apple cider contains high level of acidity that can kill the bacteria and when you mix with honey, it can soothe the soreness in your throat. Add one table spoon of apple cider and 1 tablespoon of honey to 1 cup of warm water. Gargle once a day.

Drink plenty of fluids:

Drink plenty of fluids help to keep your throat moist and also wash away any bacteria that may be lingering in that area. Drinking water for every few minutes will help you and your throat stay properly hydrated.

Citrus drinks like lemonade, orange juice and lemon juice with honey are also good sore throat soothers.

Ginger:

Ginger is a root vegetable that helps to calm a sore throat and reduce mucus collect in your throat. Put small pieces of ginger in a pot of water then boil for a few minutes until the water becomes yellow in color. Filter out the ginger pieces and pour the water into a mug and add few drops of honey to boost the flavor.

Cinnamon and pepper drink:

Take a teaspoon of cinnamon taken in a glass of water and add a pinch of pepper then warm enough for consumption. Drink it 2 to 3 times a day and sip it slowly whenever you ingest it. This has excellent benefits in clearing the sore throat problems.

Hot soups:

Hot drinks for sore throat will help to ease the pain and also help to clear the mucus in the nose and chest. Chicken soup is a good choice.
