Dislocated Intraocular Lenses

Dislocated or malpositioned intraocular lenses can be another cataract surgery side effect. Patients might be able to see the edge of the lens implant or develop a kind of double vision. Visual acuity of the patient might decrease substantially if the dislocation is too bad.

Endophthalmitis

Endophthalmitis or eye infections are common side effects of cataract surgery. These infections are of different types like fluid and swelling in the center of nerve layer; swelling of clear eye covering and bleeding in the eye.

Eye Inflammation

Following cataract surgery, slight inflammation within the eyes can be expected. Eye-drops can be of good help in healing this inflammation.

Retinal Detachment

Symptoms like floaters or flashes of light in the field of vision of the eyes post cataract surgery should be treated as medical emergency. Secondary cataracts might also be a possible side effect of cataract surgery. Capsules are generally prescribed for secondary cataracts.
