Stage 0

This is the stage when the cancer cells do not go deep into the cervix. They are found on cervix surface. This stage can easily be treated by making use of some effective medicines.

Stage 1

This is a stage where cancer gets localized in the cervix. It is a condition where the cancer is located just in the womb neck. This stage can be divided as stage 1A and stage 1B. In stage 1A, growth is very small while in stage 1B, the cancerous area grows larger.

However, the cancer still lies in the cervix tissue and has not yet spread. Stages 1A and 1B can be treated with radiotherapy or surgery.

Stage 2

This is the stage where cervical cancer extends beyond the cervix into the upper area of the vagina. The cancer might also spread to the tissues lying close to the cervix known as parametria.

Stage 2 cervical cancer treatment is done by using the combination of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Patients are also required to undergo radical hysterectomy followed by radiation therapy.

Stage 3

Stage 3 cervical cancer means that cancer has spread into lower area of vagina, and even into pelvis walls. However, it has not touched the lymph nodes and other areas of the body. Chemotherapy is the treatment administered for stage 3 cervical cancer.

Stage 4

This cervical cancer stage is where the cancer gets into different parts of the body and even the organs. Chemotherapy is the only options for Stage 4 Cervical cancer treatment but there are short-term and long-term health risks involved.
