  • Firstly, move the person to a secure place.

  • For controlling the bleeding from the wound, take a cloth and put it on the affected area, and apply steady pressure on the wound directly for about 15minutes. If the cloth is completely soaked with the blood, then put another cloth over it and press it. After that, take the person to a doctor for further treatment.

  • In order to control the swelling in the affected area, raise the leg slowly and rest the ankle on a pillow, or on a folded towel. Take an ice pack and press it gently on the swelling. If you don’t have ice pack available at that you can use ice wrapped in a towel, or in a cloth as an alternative.
  • In order to control the pain, person can given pain killer medication.
  • After doing all this first aid for broken ankle, take the person to a doctor as soon as possible for further treatment.
