Bone marrow is the main source of forming and releasing blood cells into our body. When somebody develops bone marrow failure diseases, then bone marrow discontinues functioning and starts producing abnormal blood cells.

These diseases are rare and are potentially life-threatening but affect many children and adults every year. Let us have a look at over such rare bone marrow diseases.

1. Bone Cancer

Bone cancer is the rare type of cancer that happens in cells which make up the bones of the body.

Rare Bone Marrow DiseasesA number of certain environmental factors and hereditary factors are more likely involved in development of bone cancers.

2. Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria(PNH)

It is rare but actually acquiredlife-threatening disease of blood. It is characterized by complement-induced intravascular hemolytic anemia, appearance of hemoglobin in the urine or red urine and also thrombosis. It is sometimes referred as Marchiafava-Micheli syndrome.

3. Aplastic Anemia (AA)

Aplastic Anemia is a rare condition in which bone marrow generally fails to make up sufficient number of blood cells. It is characterized by no growth or less growth of stem cells which are precursors of all blood cells in the bone marrow.

4. Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS)

Thisis a collective disorder in which stem cells formed by bone marrow are defective resulting in poorly functioning blood cells. Radiation and chemotherapy are the known triggers of MDS and progresses with age. In some cases, MDS progresses to acute leukemia over time.
