Here is the list of latex allergy foods to avoid for preventing cross reaction in people who are allergic to latex.

What is Latex Actually

Many do not know about latex and even about foods that are allergic to latex. Latex is characterized as a fluid of milky white color usually derived from rubber trees. Latex is usually used to prepare latex products.

For your surprise, latex is also found in certain foods, which we are having same protein causing cross-reaction in people allergic to latex.

Latex Allergy Foods To AvoidHaving food allergies is quiet common in individuals who have latex allergy. Latex allergic foods to avoid that are more likely to develop reactions in your body include:

These foods are latex cross-reactive foods. You may not find any symptoms of food allergic reaction or latex allergic reaction for few servings. However, you will notice symptoms of reaction when you have these foods for more servings or if you include in your routine diet.

Some more foods are cross-reactive for people with latex allergy. However, these foods are less considered as they are not more likely to develop reactions. Foods you may also consider to test for latex allergy include:

  • Legumes
  • Beans
  • Mango
  • Spinach
  • Cinnamon
  • Pumpkin
  • Broccoli
  • Spices
  • Mint
  • Pears
  • Lychee
  • Strawberries
  • Plums

Some proteins contained in these foods are related to proteins that are present in rubber. Do not confirm yourself that when you have allergic reactions to any of these foods, it does not mean that you are allergic to latex too!!
