Are you suffering from lingering cough that can’t go away? An irritating cough is very often the first common symptom of cold but you must know that it can be a symptom of some other factors like cough.

Well, can allergies cause coughing? Yes, they do! As to understand link between allergies and coughing, we have to know a little more about allergies as well.

How Can Allergies Cause Coughing?

Can Allergies Cause Coughing?Firstly, we will start with what allergies are. An allergy is an adverse reaction happens when the body is extremely exposed to proteins called allergens.

Allergens bring allergic reaction in those whose immune systems are highly sensitized.Enhanced immune response against those allergens can cause body-wide inflammation, constriction of muscles and excess mucus production in the airways.

This ultimately results in wheezing, breathing and sometimes a persistent cough.

Some allergens like pollen may trigger your immune system to create antibodies which can lead to secretion of chemicals in the nose or sinuses, leading them to swell, produce mucus. If post-nasal drip occurs, it may cause irritation in your throat and finally coughing in order to expel mucus.

Allergies can also trigger reaction in your lungs leading to allergic asthma. The lining of air passages in the lung thickens and muscles get tighten around airways, creating it difficult for air passages. The result is chronic cough.

We can find multiple allergies that result in cough and we have to blame our constantly changing lifestyle and a kind of polluted and urbanized environment we live in for that.

We actually get allergies because of multiple things that float everywhere around us all the time including inhalants which we contact at work, house dust mites and the type of food we eat particularly sour food items.
